5.5 DRIVE BELT

Inspection

Visually inspect the belt. Check for any crosswise cracks. Crosswise cracks (across the width of the belt) are acceptable. Longitudinal cracks (along the length of the belt) intersecting with crosswise cracks are not acceptable. If the belt shows signs of wear or if small pieces of material have detached, replace the belt. Refer to Adjustment and Replacement (Chapter 12) for further instructions.
